Virtual Book Tour: Living Simple, Free and Happy

Pinch me. I thought this day would never come. Scratch that. I knew it would come, but have been busting at the seams with anticipation since April 6, 2012. That’s the day my incredibly amazing editor called me to say Betterway Home Books (an imprint of F+W Media) wanted to publish my book.
I was so filled with excitement, I’m pretty sure I got an eye twitch after that call. But then began four months of devotion to the subjects I love most: furniture upcycling, DIY lifestyle and simple living. I really get jacked about reducing waste, creating really cool home decor and paying off debt with the money I save along the way.
In my debut book, I set forth a guide to clearing out clutter, hassles and obligations to make way for whatever it is that truly makes you happy. I help you empower your talents and resources to find sustainable satisfaction and curb your consumption.
Living Simple, Free & Happy offers guidance is many areas, from making money off clutter and getting control over your busy schedule to taking things you have and repurposing them into what you really want. With all these different areas of home life, my virtual blog tour will “travel” to sites where I will share projects and tips and tour hosts will share honest reviews of my book.

Wow how exciting! Congrats on your Book! I love upcycling because it takes trash and turns it into treasure and reduces waste, plus I love the creative process that occurs too! Good luck with your book tour! And thank you so much for you sweet comment on my end table to desk post!

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:10 pm #

Hi Mindi, thank you for stopping by! Yes, your desk project is amazing. I hope you submitted it to places like Apartment Therapy!

Congratulations on your book! I love upcycling because it saves money. Plus, you end up with something better and more beautiful (at least, most of the time :-D …. I think!)

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:11 pm #

Rachel, I love it! Yes, well if we don’t get something better, we at least learn something…lol!

How exciting…your very own published book! Congratulations! I love what you did with the buffet; it looks beautiful. Thanks for the chance to win your beautiful new book. I will put it on my wish list, just in case I don’t win. -:)

I LOVE what you did with that UGLY dresser! I wouldn’t have thought it could be salvaged! Congratulations on your new book! That’s wonderful. I would love to win that for some great future progjects!!!

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:16 pm #

Thank you! A dresser that’s well constructed can almost always be salvaged. There was a tiny spec of the makers mark in one drawer where I was able to see that it was made in the USA!

Thanks! I had every intention of selling that buffet table until I got finished with it and was too in love with it! That tends to happen when we put our hearts into a project : )

Great preview! This went on to my wish list immediately! I love recycling and upcycling everything. A favorite is finding new uses for large old cabinet doors. One is a bulletine board, one is a portable desk top, and I’m working with one to just be an accent in our living room. You just never know where, or what, the next treasure will be.

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:24 pm #

Great ideas! I love the portable desk idea – very clever and practical!

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:29 pm #

Thank you! Good luck with your clean out. Hopefully you can find people who will enjoy your things or you can sell what you’re not using. Other things that are dear to you can be fixed up to fit your needs. It’s definitely a worthwhile project!

    Love the mail sorter

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

Thank you! I was so excited to see that the panels were large enough to hold magazines. Isn’t it fun when projects work out that way?

  12. Nova March 14, 2013 at 6:26 pm #

Congrats on your book! Read you on My Repurposed Life Guest Blog entry. LOVE the mail sorter!

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:37 pm #

Thanks, Nova! That was the first time I repurposed a window. When I got into the project I started thinking of even more things I could do with it. So hopefully I’ll have more window projects to post this summer.

I can’t wait to read your book. I am always looking for inspiration on how to reuse things. Thanks for putting the time in to get this done. The diy world will love it!

    • Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:39 pm #

Hi Sara, thanks for the encouragement – that means a lot. Let me know if you have anything specific that you’re looking to reuse in a new way. I post those discussions on my newsletter and would love to hear from you!

  14. Lori C March 14, 2013 at 11:26 pm #

Congratulations!! Love the ideas on your pages, and signed up for your newsletter. I love dumpster diving, and finding roadside stuff to up-cycle! It’s such a good feeling to know I made less landfill, and put something back into circulation! I’ve had a booth space for 2 years now and really supplemented my income by just being a little creative and thrifty. Hope I win a copy of your book!! Thanks for the give away!

  15. Cristin Frank March 29, 2013 at 3:13 pm #

I want to thank each and every one of you for stopping by my book tour and leaving a comment. Please stay tuned, I’ll be doing the drawing for the book give-away next week. Cheers! Cristin
