Valentine Recycled Craft: Jar Luminary

Last Friday I found myself with my mother in the Dollar Spot at Target. Isn’t the Dollar Spot every grandmother’s happy place? Cheap, fun little things to buy the grandkids. Just keep it under control I advise as her arms begin to fill with Valentine goodies. While we were browsing I came across electric tea lights – $2 for $1. This was something I’d actually been thinking about because I wanted to make a stained glass jar luminary. Because, as you may know I’m obsessed with stained glass.

The Target Dollar Spot also had red chevron washi tape. With all the chevron craft projects out there, I’d yet to do anything with chevron, so I gave in.

Target Dollar Spot Valentine Craft Project

Valentine Jar luminary made with a recycled jar and Target dollar spot supplies

1. Target Dollar Spot red chevron washi tap and heart-shaped electronic tea light

2. Recycled jar with hear-shaped template

3. Chevron washi tape placed in strips on the jar. Traced the heart over the washi tape with a pencil. (I couldn’t help decorating my pencil with the washi tape.)

4. X-Acto blade used to cut out washi tape heart that will be outlined with faux lead.

I used metal BBs to nestle the electronic tea light on the bottom of the jar.

Oh wow, this is super cute. I imagine they would sell like hot cakes at the flea market too. It’s perfect for a center piece of any table over a romantic dinner.
