Painted Nature Crafts

Pistachio shells by www.rubysilvious.com

I was browsing Recycled Art this week and came across these stunning pistachio shells. At first I thought they were foil eggs (yummie) but when I read closer, the article said they were decorated with fine tip markers.

I think I could stare at these all day.

But, when I’ve satisfied my admiration, I have to make some for myself. First of all, I will ow delight in prying open pistachio shells knowing there is a fun craft project in my future.

And because it would be totally lame to just copy Ruby’s designs, I’m going to get some inspiration from a book on Zentangles!

This wasn’t the first painted nature project that caught my eye. During the fall I found some amazing painted feathers on Pinterest.

Totally gorgeous, right? There are some with gold paint and those are really amazing. Click for the tutorial on this beautiful nature craft.

And let’s not forget pinecones! Painted pinecones can be used in home decor for everything from garland to wreaths to vase filler.

When you think about it, there are so many things in nature that we can paint, like eggs and acorns. And there are so many ways to “paint” like watercolors, dye, spray paint and markers.

Have you ever painted nature? If so what was it?
