The overwhelming popularity of disposable water bottles has been brought on by they’re undeniable convenience. You’re running out the door and you grab a pre-filled, sealed water bottle. Who easy can you get?
On the flip side, reusable water bottles can be a pain to store and fill. So here are some tips to make reusable water bottles the simpler choice over disposable, landfill cluttering water bottles.
1. Make them easy to store. Water bottles are often too tall for cupboards so they are put out of sight and consequently, out of mind. I made a scalloped holder for my cupboard so I could lay my bottles down without them rolling around. This also made them stackable.
2. Fill and freeze. Take the time to fill all your water bottles, then put them in the freezer. Did you know, the more full your freezer, the LESS energy it requires to run it? Those water bottles may just help out in other environmental ways!
3. Buy a larger pitcher. I picked up a huge pitcher at Big Lots for $3 and I fill it with filtered water and ice when we have parties. This way, cold water is there when people are thirsty and we never run out because it can be refilled.
