This past Monday I was interviewed by Sandy Fowler, host of Heart Filled Holidays Radio show. She and I talked about my new book,
Our conversation morphed into a discussion on how to bring joy to your life through upcycling. This concept may seem like kind of a stretch, but when you think of upcycling as improving something that already exists, how could that not bring you joy.
Here are some specific ways to bring joy to your life with upcycling:
1. Upcycling improves your home by raising the aesthetics and purpose of your possessions.
2. Upcycling inserts your talents into your surroundings to give you an unbelievable sense of pride.
3. When you’re upcycling, you don’t always know what your going to have to work with. It’s all about discovery. Discovery is the opposite of boring and predictable.
4. Upcycling personalizes your home. Bring your interests to life by upcycling things into something to be used for displaying your passions. One example is Sandy Fowler’s daughter made her a holder out of driftwood to display her sea glass collection; collecting sea glass is a hobby she shares with her daughter. Every time she looks at that thoughtful, handmade gift, she is reminded of the happy memories it represents.
