DIY No Tie Sneakers

EORtieless_shoelaces200One of my motherly pet peeves is sloppy, untied shoes. It seemed whenever I am out with my boys I’m nagging them to re-tie their sneakers, to which they complained that they won’t stay tied. Double knots are the usual go-to but that can lead to a mess of knots. Then I’m spending 20 minutes deconstructing a pile of knots. Have you been there? Well here is a quick fix for untied shoes!

Tieless Sneaker Hack

To make tie-less sneakers I did the following DIY sneaker modification that can all be done in a minute or so.
Step 1: Thread the end of both shoelaces through a paracord lock until the lock reaches the sneaker tongue where it would normally be tied.  Paracord locks (aff. link) can be purchased for about $6 for a 4 pack. You can also repurpose these from old clothes. Many hooded sweatshirts and jackets have paracord locks on them. Reuse them for no tie shoes!
Step 2: Then snip and singe the lace ends.
Step 3: (Optional) Because my son’s sneakers had a hook at the top of the laces, I ran the shoelace ends the length of the criss cross laces, inserted them through the hook and did a single loop knot on the other side of the hook.
