This weekend is my nephew’s 5th birthday. He’s my brother’s son, and my brother is a huge Star Wars fan. So when I saw this Light Sabre freezer pop craft from Be Different Act Normal, I knew I had to make them.
Are they not just totally adorable? This got me thinking however that there are a couple girls coming to the party and I don’t recall Princess Leia wielding a light sabre. Hmm, how could I make a girly craft for freezer pops?
Hello! Lipstick. As a kid didn’t you always “apply” cherry popsicles to your lips and pretend it was lipstick? Hopefully I’m not alone here.
So I had to make lipstick holders for the girls’s freezer pops.
How to Make Lipstick Freezer Pop Holders
Pink and black felt
Glitter fabric paint
Fabric glue or a sewing machine
1. Fold a sheet of pink felt in half – top to bottom. Cut a strip 1.75″ wide
2. Cut a 1.75″ wide strip of black felt that is half the length of the pink felt. Center the black over the pink, fold and sew the sides. Sew one side slightly lower than the other. Reinforce the sewing on the ends so it doesn’t pull apart when inserting the freezer pop.
3. Cut an angle on the pink top to look like lipstick. Add a band of silver glitter where the pink and black felt meets.
4. Enjoy your glamorous freezer pop!!
A Healthier Freezer Pop
I really never buy these freezer pops because they’re full of sugar, but since I wanted to make this craft for my nephew’s party I knew I had to make an exception. When I went to the grocery storeI found Mott’s makes 100% juice freezer bars. They’re sold in boxes of 10 and cost between $1.20- $1.50 a box.
