DIY Earth Day Party Ideas

Earth Day cake topperEarth Day 2014 is right around the corner, and on some people’s calendars it’s all year round! Even though Earth Day officially became a holiday in the early 70’s, it’s now the 3rd most celebrated day in schools. I find that totally exciting! Therefore, throughout the month I’m going to be featuring Earth Day related posts with Earth Day themed videos that I created for eHow.

To kick off the Earth Day celebrations, I bring to you a simple recycled craft that can be made with kids.

Earth Day Cupcake Toppers made from Recycled Milk Jug Caps

Step 1: Print out line art of the earth, scaled to fit on your milk jug cap. Here is a link to the line art I used.

Step 2: Cut out the land part of the line art and glue it onto the milk jug cap

Step 3: Glue the back of the cap to a popsicle stick

Recyclables Board game from Eve of ReductionOne of my blogger friends, Kristen from Thrifter in Disguise is doing a “Spring Greening” event that you should check out. I submitted a Recyclables DIY board game.

How do you like to celebrate Earth Day?

Reduction Rebels, a couple more things…

I thought it would be fun to informally tell you about things I’m up to and hopefully we can bounce some ideas off each other. So here goes.

Has everyone but me started their garden seedlings? I’ve been stressing about not getting this done. I also looked over my seed shutter and noticed I have very few different kinds of seeds. I may attempt a seed exchange. Anyone ever host or participate in one? I’m thinking of contacting a few neighbors, keep it local and convenient. Thoughts?

Next, if you follow my on Google+ you may have seen the wood TV stand my son and I garbage picked last night. I’ll being doing a post on it soon. It was a quick fix, and it’s already holding my TV.

I’ll be working on the Spring issue of the Reduction Rebel newsletter. Please let me know if there are any topics you’d like me to cover. Sorry for the spoiler alter, but if you have an interesting thing that you’ve repurposed in your garden, I’d love to feature it!

Okay, that’s it. Have a splendid weekend! No wait, remember to enter into my ebook and label maker giveaway. Cheers!
