Last week we were browsing the videos at the library and I came upon a funny Christmas movie. When I pointed it out to my son he was like, “It’s summer. I don’t want to be thinking about Christmas.”
What? The most wonderful time of the year? Yes, he has a point. Let’s enjoy summer while it’s here, but if you could bring yourself to think ahead half a year, it isn’t too early to hunt and gather for supplies for your Christmas crafts.
I don’t know why “Christmas in July” was invented, do you? I say let’s create our own meaning…and that is to start some beautiful DIY projects so we don’t have to scramble in the cold and snow later on.
Craft Supplies for Christmas in July
1. Corks – Wine corks present themselves year-round but if you were perhaps interested in making this really cute wink cork Christmas wreath, you’d want to start collecting now possibly.
2. Pinecones – There are so many things you can do with pinecones at Christmas time, and they’re in abundance in July. Now is a perfect time to gather them (with tongs) and let the sap dry before December.
3. Twigs – Okay, these skates from Michele Made Me are beyond adorable. You can also conclude that it would behoove you to snip some branches now rather than in winter. True. True.
4. Driftwood – These elegant ribbon and driftwood Christmas trees from Hola Mama are really divine, and so is going to the beach in the summer vs. the winter. You catch my driftwood? Sorry, I couldn’t help my puniness!
If you’re into needlework, you may want to start some
Merry Christmas in July!
